IV Sedation with Dr. Gore
Dental care is vital to a healthy life, but we understand when patients are feeling anxious about their treatments. In addition, patients want to know that their dental care provider is skilled in their technique and comfort level of the office. Here at Midlothian Dental Center, we have both in spades. Here in Richmond, Dr. Scott Gore is one of the few premier dentists who offers IV sedation for the benefit and comfort of his patients. If you’re asking yourself, how can IV sedation add to my dental care experience, than read along to learn more.
Have you experienced the following:
- Do you have nervousness or anxiety whenever you’re in or near a dental office?
- Do you have a sensitive gag reflex?
- Have you had difficulties with local anesthesia in the past?
- Are you due for a two or more dental procedures, but your anxiety is an obstacle?
If you answered yes to one or more of those questions, consider IV sedation with Dr. Gore and our nurse anesthetist to help relieve your anxiety.
What is IV Sedation?
Intravenous (IV) Sedation is a compound of chemicals that have been carefully measured in advance, and is administered through an IV in the hand or arm. You’ll lay back comfortably in the chair, and once the sedation is administered you’ll feel intense relaxation.
Keep in mind that you are NOT unconscious, but rather in a deep state of relaxation. You’ll be able to respond to Dr. Gore and our nurse anesthetist, but will feel no pain and have no memory of the procedure.
Why Choose Dr. Scott Gore for Your Procedure?
Dr. Gore is one of the few dentists in Richmond with the capability of administering IV sedation, and is partnered with Cathy Harrison, our resident nurse anesthetist. Dr. Gore trained at the Misch International Implant Institute, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and was certified in Dental IV Sedation. Cathy earned a Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice and dedicated her life to patient comfort and care as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
What to Expect During the Consultation
Prior to pursuing IV sedation for your treatment, it’s imperative that you speak with Dr. Gore about your needs. This includes an in-depth oral examination and a medical consultation to determine if IV sedation can be applied to your case. For questions about the cost of IV sedation and financing plans available, we have a financial coordinator on staff to walk you through your options. We’ll also go over what you can expect once it’s time for your appointment, including who will help you at our office.
