Dr. Gloria Ward is a General Dentist with special training in prosthodontic techniques. She focuses on patients who need a comprehensive approach that includes restorative and reconstructive dentistry, including restoring full arch implant cases, dentures, bridges, crowns and veneers. In addition to practicing dentistry, Dr. Ward is certified in Oral Conscious Sedation, speaks Spanish fluently, and has an interest in sleep apnea, often working with local sleep specialists.
Dentistry was always Dr. Ward’s primary calling. Personalized attention and restoring someone’s confidence is her ultimate goal. She sees dentistry as creating a highly functional, lasting piece of art. She loves helping her patients get back to living life without any limitations.
Dr. Ward earned her first D.D.S in her home country of Colombia, South America from CES University and received a Master of Science in Periodontal Prosthesis. She moved to Virginia in 1999 and obtained a Master of Science in Dental Materials, later earning her second dental degree, magna cum laude, at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2003. After obtaining her degree, she was invited to stay in Richmond as full-time faculty at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry, and has had a part-time faculty appointment since 2006.
Dr. Ward dedicates more than 100 hours per year to attending and teaching continuing education. She has been the Secretary of the American Association of Women Dentists’ for almost 10 years. She belongs to multiple study clubs locally and nationally, and participates on several mission projects with the Virginia Dental Association and VCU School of Dentistry. Most recently she became a member of the Board of Advisors for the General Practice Department at the VCU School of Dentistry, a delegate for the Virginia Dental Association and Secretary of the Richmond Dental Society.
When Dr. Ward isn’t focused on her patients you’ll find her enjoying a ski trip with her family, or having conversations with her husband and daughters around the dinner table every night (usually while trying out fun new recipes!). She is an active member of her church and is training to become a USA swimming official.
Dr. Ward has been selected multiple times by her peers and awarded Top Dentist by Richmond Magazine and Virginia Living Magazine.
