Dr. Harlan Schufeldt is a Oral and Maxillofacial Prosthodontist, focused on treating all patients with unique circumstances. This includes head and neck cancer patients, as well as abnormalities, like cleft lip and palate. Dr. Schufeldt restores full arch (mouth) implant cases, as well as single and multiple tooth implant cases. He also specializes in complete dentures, partials, crown and bridges.
Dr. Schufeldt has been in prosthetics for more than 30 years, and has lectured extensively throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia. He has published research and today serves on the editorial board of the Journal of the Virginia Dental Association. He chose the profession for the opportunity to give patients a better quality of life.
Dr. Schufeldt graduated from the University of Illinois, then attended Loyola University School of Dentistry. He then completed his residency and received his certificate of specialty in Prosthodontics from the Veterans Administration Hospital at Hines, Ill, and a residency/fellowship in Maxillofacial Prosthetics at the Zoller Clinic at the University of Chicago Hospitals and Clinics.
Dr. Schufeldt moved to Richmond to join the faculty of Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Dentistry in 1982. He currently serves as an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Orthodontics, the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and the Department of Advanced Education in General Dentistry.
Dr. Schufeldt has been chosen by his peers as the Top Prosthodontic Dentist, and awarded Top Dentist by Richmond Magazine and Top Prosthodontics Dentist by Virginia Living for numerous years.
Today, Dr. Schufeldt spends time with his wife Suzi and his daughters whenever possible, but you may also find him enjoying Richmond’s art museums or restoring a classic sports car.
