We’re excited to announce a new dentist is joining our team. It’s a sign our practice is thriving, thanks to referrals from happy patients like you. As we grow to meet the needs of our patients and families in and around Midlothian, we plan to bring on only the best dentists who are dedicated to their field - and also embody all that you love about Midlothian Dental Center.

On July 22, we welcome Dr. Tart as the newest dentist at Midlothian Dental Center. He joins our team with expertise in dental implants, crowns and bridges, cosmetic dentistry, and pre-prosthetic surgery and grafting, as well as IV and oral sedation.

Originally from Florida, Dr. Tart moved to Kentucky to attend the University of Louisville School of Dentistry - and then to Richmond to complete his residency, working at Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center.

We’ve already enjoyed getting to know Dr. Tart, and we know you will too. We sat down for a Q&A with Dr. Tart to officially introduce and welcome him to Midlothian Dental Center -

Q: Why did you decide to get into dentistry?

A: I had cosmetic dentistry myself, and I knew what a difference it made for me.  As a teenager, I was unhappy with my smile and I was fortunate enough to be able to go to a dentist and have my smile improved.  It had such a positive impact on my life and that is the first time I became interested in dentistry.

When I got to college, I was working toward a degree in finance, but I knew I didn’t want to be behind a desk.  I always had dentistry in the back of my mind because I enjoy working with my hands and interacting with people, so becoming a dentist made sense.

What I love the most is creating something that has a positive impact on a patient’s day-to-day life, whether it’s by the function or the appearance of teeth.  Your smile is the first thing anyone notices, so I feel lucky to be able to play a role in creating someone’s smile.

Q: What can your new patients expect from you?

A: My patients can expect my undivided attention and focus to reach their oral health goals.  I understand that each person is different and thus has different expectations in mind when it comes to their oral health.  I plan to get to know my patients personally and figure out what these goals are and then through a comprehensive approach come up with the best treatment plan for them that is focused on long-term success.

I will be focusing on all aspects of general dentistry and I am trained to offer Oral Conscious and IV Sedation as well.

Q: Why did you choose Midlothian Dental Center to practice?

A: The associates at Midlothian Dental Center are a knowledgeable team with a lot of experience - plus they’re great to be around.  The assistants, hygienist as well as supporting office staff are a hard-working and dedicated team.  It’s an outgoing group, and it’s important to enjoy the people you work with!

Midlothian Dental Center is a high-quality, family-oriented and efficient practice. Any dentist would be lucky to be in an environment like this where you’re part of a team that’s always learning and improving.

Q: Where will we find you when you’re not at the office with patients?

A: I just got married to my wife Dani this year. So you’ll find me with her and our 2-year-old German Shepherd named Quinn. We enjoy hiking trails and getting out to the James River.

I once went backpacking for 30 days in Wyoming, where I learned more about map-reading and wilderness medicine. It’s been a while since I’ve done anything that intensive, but if I get the chance to be outdoors - whether it’s fly fishing, camping, hiking - I’m there.

Last question, but this time it’s for YOU our reader - are you ready to make an appointment? If you are, the great news is that Dr. Tart is now accepting new patients. We’ll see you in the office soon.
