Dental care is vital to a healthy life, but we understand many patients feel anxious about visiting the dentist.
Midlothian Dental Center’s very own Dr. Scott Gore is one of the few premier dentists in the Richmond area who provides patients with IV sedation.
What is IV Sedation?
Intravenous (IV) Sedation is a compound of chemicals that are carefully measured in advance, and administered through an IV in the hand or arm.
You’ll lay back comfortably in the chair, and once the sedation is administered you’ll feel intense relaxation.
Keep in mind that you are NOT unconscious, but rather in a deep state of relaxation. You’ll be able to respond to Dr. Gore and our nurse anesthetist, but will feel no pain and have no memory of the procedure.
Why Choose Dr. Scott Gore for Your Procedure?
Dr. Gore is one of the few dentists in Richmond with the capability of administering IV sedation. At Midlothian Dental Center we specifically have a highly skilled and trained nurse anesthetist, Cathy Harrison on-staff and present alongside Dr. Gore for all sedation administration.
Dr. Gore trained at the Misch International Implant Institute, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and was certified in Dental IV Sedation. Cathy Harrison earned a Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice and dedicated her life to patient comfort and care as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in the Army before working at Midlothian Dental Center.
What to Expect During the Consultation
Prior to pursuing IV sedation for your treatment, all patients will speak with Dr. Gore about their individual needs and concerns.
The initial consultation includes an in-depth oral examination and a medical exam to determine if IV sedation is the best option for your needs.
For questions about the cost of IV sedation and financing plans available, we have a financial coordinator on staff to walk you through your options. We’ll also go over what you can expect once it’s time for your appointment, including who will help you at our office.
